Kelly Heaton (@kelly_heaton) is a mixed-media artist working at the intersection of visual art and electrical engineering. She designs circuits to reveal the flow of electricity in organisms as well as machines, a practice that she terms “electronic naturalism.” Heaton’s sculptures and printed circuit boards depict familiar scenes of nature intersected with blinking, chirping electronics that seem oddly alive. Her art is characterized by an ecological model of electricity in which there is no distinction between the natural and the artificial.
