Max Bittker

Max Bittker (@maxbittker) is a teacher, artist, and software developer. His practice combines an appreciation for the limitations of digital materials with patience and care for human needs. He hopes that sharing digital distractions can create spaces for blended boundaries between learning, play, and expression.

Max’s public work includes the journalistic vocabulary-tracking twitter bot @NYT_first_said, living drawing canvases such as sandspiel.club and orb.farm, and helpful creativity tools such as shaderbooth.com and broider, a lo-fi border pattern designer.

In fall 2020, Max was an adjunct lecturer for NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program, teaching Hand Held: Creative Tools For Phones. This course focused on tool-sharing as a creative practice, and on developing a personal relationship with web materials. Currently, he is helping out with MakeSpace, a tool for co-created online togetherness. [Website]
